The wiki says that a map will drop a 'connected' map, but in my map runs I have rarely seen that. A tier 3 on one side of the atlas is just as likely to drop a tier 3 from the other side. What's more, it seems certain maps drop far more often; ie.
I've gotten a good 40 tier 4 maps, but they are always the same ones I don't need like Phantasmagoria sp? Shouldn't I have gotten at least 1 tier 4 map I haven't done by now? I do the Zana daily, and buy any maps she has that I haven't done.
I ask in trade but don't get any replies unless it's about an unique map. I always 3xMap vendor craft. I always Chance any maps that have unique variants. Is there anything else I can do, in order to get the maps I've not been able to find or buy?

You can remove maps from your atlas, they'll still drop if you're adjacent to them, but it'll reduce your chances overall. People use that technique to try to control which maps drop for them.
