Nearby, several nekker enemies are bothering a villager. Kill the beasts to save the villager to learn why some people want the troll to remain alive. In the area near the bridge, you'll also find the troll itself. Fight it but don't kill it. Once you have harmed the creature a bit, the troll will stop its own offense and you have options about how to proceed. Though you can complete the quest immediately if you kill the troll, you should instead let him live at least for now; you can kill it later if you want.
Head back to Flotsam and talk to the sorceress Sile in her room above the inn. You should also talk to Zoltan at the inn itself. You'll get information that refers you to Sendler's house in Lobinden. When you visit the trapper, you'll find that he has a troll head on his wall. To claim the item you have to beat Sendler at the dice gambling mini-game, but he won't agree to play against you unless you have beaten the weaker opponents ahead of him for more information on that process, see our walkthrough of the Poker Face: Flotsam side quest.
Beat Sendler at dice and claim the troll head. Take the head back to the troll for a reward in the form of some armor. There's still the matter of Dmitri, who murdered the female troll. Talk to the thieves who hang around outside the inn in Flotsam in the evenings.
They'll give up the location of their leader, though it should be noted that he moves. In chapter 2, there is a wild troll in the ravines which you can find early on. I didn't kill it just avoided it , but I've heard that it doesn't matter. The two main trolls, I encountered in reverse order. I encountered the female troll first. Just choose conversation options that are non-confrontational. Then, you'll go past the quarry can't miss it -- it's a huge hole with spiraling paths leading down.
Go up and around to the left of it, and you'll find the male troll. He's under attack, so help dispatch the attackers. I initially told him that his wife might have encountered some soldiers.
He decided to go to Vergen to join the battle although he didn't get far , and even though I didn't kill him, I didn't get the achievement. I reloaded a save prior to the female troll, talked to her again, got to the male troll, and this time told him his wife was okay. He heads off to find her, and the achievement unlocked almost right away upon ending the conversation.

Two people with information are Zoltan, in the Tavern 1 , and Sile, in a room above the tavern. Zoltan will tell you to check the houses because it was probably killed to be used as a trophy. Head back to the Tavern 1 and speak to a suspicious looking character on the lower level. You can either use Intimidate or fistfighting to make him tell you that Dmitri can be located in the cemetery.
Make your way to the Cemetery 6 and defeat Dmitri and his thugs. Report back to Chorab 3 for your reward. Troll Trouble.
