When is twloha day 2011

I lost a friend of mine 5 days ago. I miss you Megppie. I wish I knew you better and longer. Love On Ya. Reach out to those in need. Love them through the hard parts and continue to love them through the best parts.

Losing someone so close to suicide, while suffering from suicidal thoughts is what I imagine hell is like. I am not ashamed to admit my thoughts, I am not ashamed to say I am a survivor. I wore my shirt today — broke dress code, no one cared. I listened as a woman of age told of losing her father to suicide as a young girl. The tears were still fresh, though the event was decades ago. She was smiling through them at the end of the telling. Listening is such a simple, easy gift to give.

We should ALL know about this! I will never forget, now. Thank you for spreading the message and making ME aware! I miss you glowbug.. I miss you. I am still struggling with my Anxiety Depression and Bipolar and for the past month is has gotten worse. I have no insurance so i would probably have to pay crap loads for the medicine which sucks like heck.

Today, I fondly remembered the lives of some pretty damn special people who could not escape the fear that all hope was forever gone. I remembered their lives, and talked about them. Though suicide became the end of their story, as we know it, they will remain — forever in my heart.

Their memory will not ever be forgotten. To the hurting — and I am frequently one of them — know that you are not ever alone. Welcome to midnight. Celebrate the fact that your heart is beating, and you have reason to breathe. Please stay alive — with me. It will be two years for me in December when I considered ending it all. There are still the bad days, but the good days seem to be coming in longer stretches. And to live each moment without regret. I miss you Michael, your smile, laughing, the fun times we had and the plans we had made.

You will always be missed and loved. Please know that we also respond to every email we receive at info twloha. Hello, I am currently writing a one act play for my students that deals with suicide, and most importantly, suicide prevention. We have lost several young people in our student body over the course of a few short years, and it is time to take action.

Thanks in advance! Am just getting acquainted with this movement that i believe is absolutely essential. I came out of a very long bout with serious depression that felt like it was terminal, but came through it, not because I found some wonder cure, but through a very slow process came back to life and now live every day with gratitude. Yes, I still battle despair at times and have personal heartaches with loved ones who are in dark places and struggling, too.

Bottom line, we need to stop hiding and realize that there are folks out there who care. We all have our path to walk. We need to have faith in each other and help those who are sent our way to have faith in themselves that they DO have a story to live and to tell and that each life counts.

Peace to all of you. Pingback: Monday Morsel: Suicide colorofkim. Each year we host our own World Suicide Prevention Day campaign. We will announce our campaign slogan and release our design in August.

I want to spread more awareness about mental self and self harm. My name is Madison Baker. I live in Lorain County. To Write Love On Her Arms is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people struggling with depression, addiction, self-harm and suicide. National Suicide Prevention week is an annual week-long campaign in the United States to bring awareness to the issue by informing health officials and the general public about suicide prevention and warning signs of suicide.

The campaign also aims to help encourage the pursuit mental health assistance and bring together a network of support to show those struggling that they are not alone. At TWLOHA, our programs address mental health issues on a number of levels, from engaging college students and hosting educational conferences to offering internships and investing directly into treatment and recovery.

Through organized meetings and events, each chapter serves as a voice of hope, inspiration, and support for students and their surrounding communities. In America, It is estimated that 1,10 0 students w ill be los t to suicide each year. One in 12 s tudent s have created a suicide pl an. Our UChapters are challenging these n u m b e r s b y m e e t in g s t u d e nt s w h e r e t h e y are, loving them, and reminding them of their impor tance.

They are breaking stigma, star ting conver sations, and bur sting through a silence other s are afr aid to confront. They are let ting people know they are not alone in their str uggles, that they have a friend and ally who will stand with them as they face a dar k unknown. They are holding the hands of their peer s and walking through that unknown with them, introducing friends and strangers alike to the concepts of communit y, hope, compassion, treatment, and recover y.

The MOVE Community Conference is a two-day, in-depth, engaging workshop led by professional counselors and designed to begin a conversation about issues often left in the dark. MOVE is our way of equipping and educating communities about the topics we address at To Write Love on Her Arms: depression, addiction, self-injury, suicide, and the role a trusted community plays in bringing hope to those who feel broken. We explore what is behind these struggles, what drives them, what recovery looks like, and how we can make a difference.

I loved that it is a place for open, free conversations about these issues of mental health that people somewhere along the line decided are supposed to be quiet issues. So we invited a small group of people from all over the U. From day one, our interns were charged with carrying out the heart of TWLOHA, especially in responding to the many messages we receive from people sharing stories of struggle and pain.

They spend hours each day offering hope, providing encouragement, and directing people to resources to find help. In alone, our interns responded to over 5, messages from supporters.

TWLOHA interns have also become vital in assisting our small staff with the many programs that make up our mission. Whether managing o u r S t re e t Te a m , g ro w i n g o u r U n i ve rs i t y Chapters and MOVE conferences, developing n e w ca m p a i g n s l i ke T h e S t o r y t e l le r s , o r connecting with supporters through messages, social media, and events, TWLOHA interns can develop their passion and skill and help others in a variety of areas.

The people would have to be my favorite part. Having the privilege to live and work with the other interns, even in hard times, was an experience I will never forget. It helped me grow in so many ways. I really loved working with UChapters and Letters of Encouragement. I loved learning about them and having the freedom to expand and contribute to both programs. My favorite aspect of the internship would have to be the lessons and activities we had on community and how to build it, because it taught me how to love and have compassion for people as a whole.

I love the staff and work environment. Easily, my favorite part about working with TWLOHA is the opportunity to work events, share with strangers and talk to supporters. I also enjoyed being able to share my writing with an audience. We value what counseling and the services of trained mental health professionals can mean for people, whether someone is getting help for the first time or the tenth.
